Why No Physical Copy for PS5?

Black Myth: Wukong is an action RPG developed by Chinese indie studio Game Science. The game is inspired by the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West, and it features the legendary Monkey King, Sun Wukong, as the protagonist. The game has garnered significant attention for its stunning visuals, fluid combat, and faithful adaptation of Chinese mythology.

Why No Physical Copy for PS5?

While the exact reasons for the lack of a physical copy release for the PS5 version of Black Myth: Wukong haven't been officially disclosed, there are a few potential factors:

1) Digital Distribution Focus: Many modern games, especially from indie developers, prioritize digital distribution to reduce production costs and simplify logistics.

2) Environmental Considerations: Some companies are leaning towards digital-only releases as a more environmentally friendly option, cutting down on plastic use and shipping emissions.

3) Market Trends: The gaming industry is seeing a growing trend where a significant portion of gamers prefer digital copies for the convenience of not having to switch discs and the ability to play immediately upon release.

4) Limited Resources: Resource limitations faced by Game Science which makes it challenging to simultaneously release physical discs.

These are speculative reasons, and the situation could change with future updates or if the demand for a physical release becomes strong enough. In the meantime, those interested in playing Black Myth: Wukong can purchase it digitally from the PlayStation Store.

If you cannot hold it in your hand you do not own it.

Not having a physical copy is extremely disappointing but I’m willing to wait and play some backlog ps plus games. The day the industry adopts a completely digital platform for gaming will be the end of console gaming for me

I wish I could play this game I waited over a year, but no physical disk upsets me a lot. Last digital game I bought it vanished and In order to get the game back I would have to shell out another 70.00

If ganes were not so damn large to download and if they were not so expensive id buy. But I am sorry if this game is digital only. How can they charge us the same amount for a digital copy like they would a disk copy.

So now you truly do not own the media
Take for instance the recent marvel game if you had a digital version they literally removed it from your library if I don’t even get a physical copy anymore the price for these games needs to drop significantly i’m not paying $70 for Gehm content that you can just arbitrarily remove at any given moment game developers to do better

Well Im waiting for the physical copy. You don’t actually OWN the digital copy. You’re just renting it.

I just made my first ever purchase on play station store online last night. I wasn’t aware of the deluxe digital format till too late. Thought about canceling right away but later found out this is my only option. Very disappointed and will never order again.
